Class of 2009

Cait started her senior year yesterday. I remember taking her to kindergarten and thinking that it would take forever for her to be a senior. No! It's here. I think I'm going to be in the poor house before it's over. She's taking three dual credit classes, so she'll have those out of the way her freshman year of COLLEGE. We sent Sax to the campus bookstore to get the books, thinking it wouldn't be as busy in the middle of the day. I'm so glad that HE went, because it took forever. Of course, they didn't have one of the books, but the two that they did have were $150 and they're used! I finally found the third one online.

Cait has decided that she's going to be mean this year. Yeah, right! Her friends were teasing her and saying that her idea of being mean was accidentally bumping into a freshman, then hugging them and apologizing over and over and asking them if they needed any help finding their classes. I have never seen as much drama as they have in this high school. It's unbelievable.

Her first day was really good. She has late arrival and early dismissal.

She just called to give me her Second Day of School Report. For art, she has Mrs. Ing. Mrs. Ing was one of Luke's favorite teachers. Cait went up to her and asked if she remembered her uncle. Mrs. Ing asked who her uncle was and all Cait got out was "Luke" and Mrs. Ing started crying. She said he was one of her all time favorite students. Ok, wipe your eyes now. I told her that Mrs. Ing will be expecting her to live up to Lukes artistic standards, but I don't think that'll happen. Cait is too literal, everything is straight lines and black and white, whereas Luke was anything but.

Olympic Withdrawals

Ok, so I had my 2000 hours of Olympic coverage all recorded. I have now seen it all. Who knew that trampoline was a sport? Who knew that you could compete as a gymnast at the age of six? Who knew that you could be mesmerized by 3 hours of race-walking? If anyone knows how to race walk, please let me know. I attempted, but hurt myself in the process. I am now having Olympic withdrawals. I saved several recordings, for those evenings when I just have to have a little Olympic spirit. Hopefully it will tide me over until The Amazing Race and Survivor premiere.

Cupcakes anyone?

Cait: I wanna make cupcakes. Do we have a cupcake mix or can I just use a cake mix?

Where in the World is Belgium

After reading Ellie's post about her art class and the artist from Belgium (that's where Belgian's are from), I took an informal poll on my cell. The question was, if I told you I was Belgian, where would I be from?

Had some unbelievable answers. One TEACHER answered Germany, another answered Hungary. Some of the other answers were Holland, Belarus and Bulgaria.

Then last night, Cait was telling me that Tom Greene smuggled a cat from Tijuana to LA, for Kat Von De. She just didn't know how he smuggled a cat in a muffler, all the way across the ocean. I must have looked confused because she said.... "you know, the island off of Asia". And they told me she was gifted.....
